Removing Chip for Canon Pixma series cartridges

We understand the process of removing the chips and resetting the printer software with these new style cartridges can be daunting so we have provided comprehensive, step by step instructions on this process.

Epson two piece cartridge replacement

1. Remove the cartridge shell from the bag and install it in the printer Remove the ink tank from its foil bag and remove the yellow tab Install the ink tank into the shell inside the printer
2. Close the lid and the printer will charge as normal.

Using the yellow spike tool for Epson ink cartridges

The old style cartridges had a yellow tab that you used to peel from the top.

This allowed air into the cartridge, so during printing the ink could come out of the nozzles. If this wasn't done then after a few prints a vacuum would form inside the cartridge and no ink could escape.

We have replaced this yellow tab on some cartridges with a yellow spike tool that you use to pierce certain holes on the label side of the cartridge. This reduces the chance of any air channels from not being exposed.

This technique is used for black cartridges T007, T017, T026, T028, T036, T040, T066
and for colour cartridges T008, T009, T018, T027, T029, T037, T041, T067

Remember to pierce all the air holes on the cartridge

Black has only 1 air hole
Colours have either 3 or 5 air holes depending on the model You do not need to pierce the ink nozzle(where the ink comes out) as the printer will do this on installation.

Yellow printer adjustment clip

In an effort to make the cartridge easier to use we have removed a part from the cartridge itself.

The plastic arm that used to stick out of the cartridge has been removed, and replaced by this yellow plastic clip.

The clip actually attaches to the back of the printer carriage (where the cartridges are inserted).

Once this yellow part is clipped into position the actual cartridges are installed as normal.

Also once the yellow clip is in position it does not need to be removed when you use another compatible cartridge.
